Back End Shopify Developer

In this role, you will help merchants solve complex e-commerce challenges by developing backend services, custom Shopify apps, integrations, middleware, and platform extensions.

You will work with Shopify APIs, third-party systems, app development frameworks, deployment environments, and the broader Shopify ecosystem to create scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.

• Develop backend solutions for Shopify and e-commerce projects.
• Build integrations between Shopify and third-party systems such as ERPs, CRMs, OMS, PIMs, logistics platforms, payment providers, marketing tools, and other external services.
• Create and maintain custom Shopify apps.
• Develop embedded Shopify apps using Shopify’s modern app development stack.
• Work with Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL, REST when required, webhooks, app proxies, and Shopify authentication flows.
• Create Shopify app extensions, checkout extensions, Shopify Functions, and custom widgets when required.
• Develop middleware services to connect Shopify with external business systems.
• Analyze third-party API documentation and define integration strategies.
• Design and expose custom APIs for internal and external use.
• Work with Docker-based development environments.
• Support deployment processes, environment configuration, and production releases.
• Collaborate with front-end developers when Shopify themes, widgets, or storefront integrations require backend support.
• Troubleshoot API, app, webhook, checkout, and integration issues.
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with Shopify best practices.
• Document technical decisions, integrations, data flows, and development processes.
• Work cross-functionally with project managers, technical leads, designers, QA, and external technical teams.

• Experience with Shopify Plus projects.
• Experience with Hydrogen or headless Shopify implementations.
• Experience with Prisma ORM.
• Experience with queues, background jobs, cron jobs, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Serverless and AWS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and error tracking tools.
• Experience with Laravel, PHP, Python, NodeJS or other backend technologies is a plus.
• Good understanding of e-commerce flows such as products, variants, inventory, orders, customers, discounts, shipping, fulfillment, returns, and checkout.
